For many men and women in Los Angeles, liposuction makes sense. When certain areas of the body do not respond to diet and exercise, it's natural to seek other solutions. As a board-certified plastic surgeon specializing in leading edge techniques, I can help my L.A. lipo patients to achieve optimal results from their procedure.
Body contouring is a special area of focus for me. I know that with all the techniques available today, it can be confusing to plan liposuction in Los Angeles. But I encourage patients to choose an experienced, board-certified plastic surgeon and select the right approach in a personal consultation.
Laser-assisted liposuction is a technique that has gained popularity recently. I can evaluate whether it's a good choice for you. Just request a consultation online or call (310) 300-1779 to make an appointment.
Laser-assisted liposuction uses a small fiber 2-4mm in diameter to melt away unwanted fat. As in other liposuction approaches, I pre-treat the target area with a tumescent solution containing a local anesthetic, and suction away the liquefied fat if there's a significant volume.
The first step in laser-assisted liposuction is to treat the fatty tissues with an anesthetic solution to minimize discomfort and improve the precision of fat removal. The laser fiber is then introduced under the skin and passed through the tissues, melting the fat but leaving the nerves and blood vessels relatively unaffected. For most patients, I remove the melted fat using a gentle suction technique. The heat from the laser and the suction contribute to tightening the skin.
Laser-assisted liposuction is particularly useful for fibrous areas of the body, such as regions previously treated with liposuction or the chest area for males. A broad range of people can be good candidates for laser liposuction in Los Angeles, from those in their late teens to people in their 70's. As patients age and their skin naturally loosens, the number of areas of the body that are good targets decreases. An in-person consultation is the best way for me to help my patients understand which areas can benefit most.
Laser-assisted liposuction may be done using local anesthesia alone, intravenous sedation and local anesthesia or general anesthesia with supplemental local anesthesia. When more areas are treated, it's best to use more than just local anesthesia or to split the procedure into different sessions.
For the vast majority of my patients, liposuction recovery progresses rapidly. Most people return to work in 1-2 days. Bruising resolves over the course of 1-2 weeks. Improvement is visible immediately and continues to get better with time; final results take a few months to see.
In my experience, complications from liposuction surgery in Los Angeles, such as bleeding and infection, are rare. It's possible to experience small burns on the skin or contour irregularities, but these occur rarely as well. In cases where results are not optimal, improvement can often be achieved with a second treatment.
