I really enjoy performing chin and cheek augmentation; these procedures can create profound improvements in overall facial appearance. Often I find that patients aren’t aware of disproportions in their facial features. After a decade as a busy plastic surgeon I have the experience to develop the right surgical plan for each cheek and chin implant patient in Los Angeles.
This female patient had a blepharoplasty with Dr. Stoker. Following her surgical procedure, our nurse injectors injected Voluma to the lateral and medial cheeks, Restylane-L to the under eyes, and a chin augmentation. Her results are beautiful but natural! Read More
This 52-year-old woman desired facial rejuvenation. Dr. Stoker performed a facelift using his short scar technique. He also performed liposuction of the neck and chin augmentation. She is shown before and one month following her surgery.
Cheek augmentation: For cheek augmentation, I prefer fillers like Radiesse® or fat grafting. Experience shows that these techniques have short recovery times and minimal problems. I inject the fat or filler into a deeper plane and use a larger amount than I would for lip augmentation and tear troughs under the eyes. Deep placement and larger volumes tend to bring about a pleasing, long lasting result.
Chin augmentation: Chin augmentation is best performed with an implant. I make a small incision under the chin or inside the mouth. Often, under the chin works best—the scar heals beautifully, and the technique has a low complication rate and minimal impact on lip and neck muscles.

Candidates for cheek augmentation may be patients who are starting to see facial skin and fat descend due to aging and gravity. They may be concerned that their formerly full, youthful cheeks appear sunken and hollow. Other candidates may simply be seeking better facial proportions.
Chin augmentation candidates usually fall into two groups. First are men and women who seek a stronger chin and jaw line to balance other facial features. For many patients, chin augmentation can complement rhinoplasty in Los Angeles, yielding better facial proportions and making the nose appear smaller.
The second group of patients benefiting from chin augmentation include those who are starting to experience neck laxity or a double chin. For older patients, a chin implant can improve the results of a facelift or neck lift, with or without liposuction. For some, a chin implant can camouflage jowls by smoothing depressions in the jaw line.
Chin & Cheek Augmentation
Recovery from cheek and chin augmentation is usually swift. Most patients experience minimal bruising, and their new facial lines look good even before all swelling is resolved.
Risks of cheek and chin augmentation are few. Chin augmentation patients may see light bruising; this occurs less often with cheek augmentation. Infection is a rare complication. With chin augmentation, there’s a slight risk of nerve injury or displacement of the implant.
