At our Marina del Rey practice serving Los Angeles and Santa Monica, we offer BOTOX® Cosmetic, Dysport®, XEOMIN®, and Jeuveau™—all FDA-approved neurotoxins that are designed to reduce the appearance of wrinkles caused by the repeated movement of facial muscles. Over time, as you laugh, smile, and frown, contractions of these muscles create lines and wrinkles on the face known as dynamic wrinkles. With carefully placed injections, we use neurotoxins to block nerve impulses to the muscles that are causing dynamic wrinkles. This relaxes the muscles and allows the skin to lay smooth.

What’s the difference between BOTOX and other neurotoxins?
While all are slightly different, neurotoxins offer similar results. Key differentiators include:
BOTOX Cosmetic is the original neurotoxin, approved for cosmetic use by the U.S. FDA in 2002. Produced by Allergan, the company that makes JUVÉDERM®, KYBELLA®, and LATISSE®, BOTOX was originally approved by FDA for medical uses. Today, BOTOX injection is by far the most commonly performed cosmetic procedure in the country.
Dysport, produced by Galderma, tends to disperse farther from the injection site making it a good choice for larger areas. Results also tend to develop sooner than with BOTOX.
XEOMIN, produced by Merz Aesthetics, is sometimes called “naked BOTOX” because it does not contain preservatives. One benefit XEOMIN has over its competitors is the fact that it only contains one ingredient (no additives) making it less likely to cause a severe reaction.
Jeuveau, produced by Evolus, is the first neurotoxin developed exclusively for cosmetic use. It is the most recent neurotoxin to be FDA-approved and is also called #newtox. Results from clinical studies showed that Jeuveau may take effect faster than other neurotoxins and may last longer for certain patients.
During your consultation, your provider will put together a personalized treatment plan to help you achieve your cosmetic goals. We may recommend combining a neurotoxin treatment with other skin care treatments such as dermal fillers and other injectables, chemical peels, or laser skin resurfacing. Together, we’ll chart a course for your ultimate enhancement. This may mean that we suggest a surgical procedure such as a facelift or eyelid surgery if it is better suited to your cosmetic goals.
