Peels & Dermaplaning

Most people are familiar with exfoliation—removing dead skin cells to reveal the healthy cells beneath. This same concept can help you understand chemical peels and dermaplaning. Our Los Angeles, Santa Monica, and Marina del Rey patients have discovered that these non-invasive procedures can significantly enhance skin health and appearance with the expertise and guidance of our skilled providers. Chemical Peels

Chemical peels are particularly useful for skin conditions such as acne, wrinkles, and uneven pigmentation and are available in a variety of “depths.” The depth of a peel can be adjusted based on the amount of correction needed.

As a general rule, the deeper the peel, the more dramatic the results. However, deeper peels also mean longer recovery. While light peels only involve slight dryness or flaking, deep peels can be uncomfortable and may require more than a week of downtime.

Stoker Aesthetics offers a selection of advanced, clinical-strength chemical peels to refine your complexion. Our TCA (Trichloroacetic Acid) Peel is performed entirely in-office. The Melanage and Cosmelan peels are applied in-office and removed at home after working their effects on your skin for 8-10 hours. Your provider will provide specific instructions for your treatment.

The TCA (Trichloroacetic Acid) Peel

The TCA Peel enhances skin tone and texture by reducing the appearance of fine lines, wrinkles, and sun damage through the removal of the outermost layers of the skin. This treatment requires some downtime, as the skin will start to peel and flake about 3 to 5 days post-treatment, with the process continuing for a few days until completion.

The Melanage Peel

The Melanage Peel addresses concerns such as melasma and textural irregularities. This thin, yellow-hued mask uses an exclusive combination of ingredients to gently exfoliate the skin and reduce the appearance of hyperpigmentation.

The Cosmelan Peel

The Cosmelan Peel targets melasma and skin texture. This peel, similar in thickness and texture to a clay mask, contains ingredients that inhibit melanin production, reducing hyperpigmentation and improving overall skin tone. Post-treatment care includes the nightly application of a specialized cream.

Dermaplaning

Dermaplaning is a non-invasive exfoliation treatment that gently removes the top layer of dead skin cells and fine vellus hair (peach fuzz) from the face using a sterile surgical blade. This process reveals a smoother, brighter complexion and enables better absorption of skincare products. Dermaplaning can also help reduce the appearance of fine lines, acne scars, and hyperpigmentation, resulting in a more youthful and radiant appearance.

Alternatives

Chemical peels and dermaplanning are gentle ways to achieve a fresh look without a lot of downtime in most cases. Another non-surgical treatment that can address many of the same skin conditions is an IPL PhotoFacial. It is gentler than laser skin resurfacing and treats sun-damaged skin on the face, neck, chest, and hands.

There are also other procedures that can deliver more dramatic results. For the most significant, longest lasting improvement, surgery (such as a face lift or eyelid surgery) may be the best choice. For wrinkle reduction that is still non-surgical, BOTOX® Cosmetic, Dysport® or injectable fillers might be a good fit.
