Scar Camouflage Before & After Case 2587
Case Details
This patient came in looking for a solution to help minimize the appearance of a dark, discolored scar that stood out against their natural skin tone. The goal was not to change the texture of the scar, but to improve the color and help it blend more naturally with the surrounding skin.
After a consultation, scar camouflage was recommended. This specialized treatment uses a customized blend of white ink and skin-toned pigments designed specifically for the patient’s skin tone and scar characteristics. During each session, tiny needles create microchannels in the scar tissue, allowing pigment to be placed beneath the surface to neutralize darker tones.
Each treatment took about 15 minutes and required no numbing. The patient reported minimal discomfort during the procedure and experienced only mild redness and swelling afterward, which resolved within a few days. There was no downtime, allowing them to return to normal activities right away.
While scar camouflage treatments are typically spaced about six weeks apart, this patient waited longer between sessions due to scheduling. Even after just one treatment, they noticed a significant improvement in how well the scar blended with their surrounding skin. When they returned for a second session, the results were further refined, though the patient felt the first treatment alone had already made a meaningful difference.
In total, this patient completed two treatments spaced roughly three months apart. The final outcome was a softer, more natural-looking scar that no longer drew attention. With proper aftercare, the results are expected to be long-lasting.
Scar camouflage is best suited for scars that are red or darker than the surrounding skin and focuses on color correction rather than texture. For patients with keloid or hypertrophic scars, additional treatments such as steroid injections may be recommended prior to pigmentation.
