What To Expect at a Mommy Makeover Consultation

At a Mommy Makeover consultation, you can expect to discuss your goals and health history, have a personalized exam of your breasts and body, review before-and-after results, and leave with a custom treatment plan and price quote.

Over 25 years, I’ve learned that the best Mommy Makeover results start with a thorough, honest first conversation. Here’s how that visit works at Stoker Plastic Surgery.

What Is Discussed at a Mommy Makeover Consultation?

We’ll talk about your goals, overall health, and stage of life so I can determine which procedures make sense for you:

  • Your priorities: What bothers you most and what you’d change first.
  • Your health: Medical conditions, medications, prior surgeries, and your current weight relative to your goal.
  • Your family plans: Pregnancies, whether you’ve finished breastfeeding, and whether you plan to have more children.

Many women arrive with a long list. Part of my job is helping you sort out what surgery can realistically improve and what it can’t. If surgery isn’t the right move for you right now, I’ll candidly tell you.

How Should I Prepare for My Mommy Makeover Consultation?

The best way to prepare is to complete my complimentary initial assessment and estimate, gather your medical history, and write down the body changes that bother you most.

  • Submit photos in advance: The initial assessment lets you upload photos so I can review your goals and share preliminary recommendations and pricing before we meet.
  • Be at or near your goal weight: A BMI over 30 can increase surgical risk, and significant weight fluctuations after surgery can compromise your results.
  • Consider your “why”: The most satisfied patients pursue a Mommy Makeover for themselves, not because of outside pressure.
Four steps of a Mommy Makeover consultation: share photos, discuss goals, get an exam, and leave with a custom plan.

What Does a Mommy Makeover Exam Include?

During your physical exam, I assess the anatomy of your breasts, abdomen, and body contours because these details determine which procedures will deliver your desired results.

  • Breasts: I evaluate volume, nipple position, skin laxity, crease position, and asymmetry to determine whether you need a breast augmentation, a breast lift (mastopexy), both combined, or a breast reduction.
  • Abdomen: I look for loose skin, stretch marks, and separation of the abdominal muscles (diastasis recti); a lower-belly bulge usually won’t respond to diet or exercise.
  • Waist and thighs: I identify stubborn fat deposits, which I often treat with precision liposuction.

Depending on what I find, your plan may include one of my signature body contouring procedures, such as the Hourglass Tummy Tuck or the Bikini Body Lift™. If breast implants are part of your plan, we’ll discuss type, size, and profile, as well as incision placement and implant position.

How Do Before-and-After Photos Help Set Realistic Expectations?

Before-and-after photos help you understand what a Mommy Makeover may achieve for someone with a body similar to yours. During your consultation, I’ll show you results from my online gallery of before-and-after photos, pointing out women with similar starting points and explaining how their results relate to your goals. Can I Have All My Procedures in One Surgery?

Most healthy patients can safely combine breast and body procedures into one operation. During your consultation, I’ll review your health, assess your anatomy, and discuss your desired procedures to determine whether combining them or staging them across separate surgeries is more appropriate for you.

Combined surgery has been a prominent focus of my career. I’ve co-authored peer-reviewed research on the safety of combining cosmetic procedures. I also lead body contouring courses for The Aesthetic Society and the American Society of Plastic Surgeons. That experience shapes how I plan each case. My focus is always on:

  • Prioritizing your safety
  • Tailoring your recovery to your real life
  • Delivering cohesive, natural-looking results

Can a Bikini Body Lift Be Part of a Mommy Makeover?

Yes, a Bikini Body Lift enhances a Mommy Makeover for women whose loose skin extends beyond the abdomen to the outer thighs and buttocks. I developed this 360° procedure to lift and smooth the entire lower torso in a single surgery, and I’ve performed hundreds of them.

  • What it combines: A tummy tuck, outer thigh lift, buttock lift, and pubic lift
  • Where the scar sits: Low around the waistline, where a bikini bottom or underwear can hide it
  • How it reshapes: It removes excess skin and repositions existing tissue without liposuction or fat transfer, and it can reduce the appearance of cellulite
  • Who it suits best: Women at a stable, healthy weight who want lift and smoothness

Paired with breast enhancement, the Bikini Body Lift restores your upper and lower body in one coordinated Mommy Makeover plan. If you’re considering this approach, bring your favorite bikini bottoms or lingerie to your consultation. Seeing the styles you actually wear helps me plan where your incision will sit.

What Questions Should I Ask at My Mommy Makeover Consultation?

Ask about your surgeon’s board certification, experience with combined procedures, surgical facility accreditation, and what recovery will realistically look like for your plan. Here are some recommended questions:

  • Are you certified by the American Board of Plastic Surgery?
  • How often do you perform combined breast and body procedures?
  • Where will my surgery take place, and is the facility accredited?
  • What will recovery look like with young children at home?

As a board-certified plastic surgeon who has performed more than 20,000 facial, breast, and body procedures, I encourage you to ask as many questions as you like during your consultation. An informed patient is always a more confident one.
